The BSA Training Finder

Help

What is this all about?

As a volunteer:

This tool will help you identify what relevant training opportunities are available to you in your area. First, by answering a couple questions, it will identify training courses relevant to you. Second, it will search across multiple councils to find when and where these courses may be offered in the near future. The following councils are currently sharing their events:

As a BSA Council:

This tool will help you reach out to surrounding councils and increase training event attendance by creating more visibility. Participation is simple, free, and it provides valuable, easy to find information to volunteers.

How can I embed this tool in my council website?

Copy and paste the following HTML code into a page. Note, that if you're using an editor that allows you to toggle HTML mode, you'll need to enable that.

How can I include my council's training events in this tool?

Step 1 - Verify your council's participation.

This system integrates only with Councils that have registered. Currently the following councils are participating:

If you're in one of these councils, you're all set.

If you want to be added to this list, please have the DoubleKnot/Google Calendar Administrator for your council contact us. Note, you must post your events on either a DoubleKnot or Google calendar to participate.

Step 2 - Get the course code.

The current list of registered course codes are:

Course CodeName
D21Bachelor of Commissioner Science

If the training course you are looking for is not on this list, please contact us.

Step 3 - Add the course code to your event.

For DoubleKnot calendars, add the course code surrounded by parentheses to the event title. For example: Wilderness First Aid (N02)

For Google calendars, add the course code surrounded by square brackets to the event description.

You must include the zip code of where the event will be held in the proper field. This allows us to calculate the distance from the volunteer, and in the future, allow them to filter out events by range.

That's it! Site are indexed periodically, so you can expect to find your event via the tool in about an hour. If you feel something has been indexed incorrectly, please contact us.

Tips

If the event is relivant to multiple courses, you can add them with one tag separated by commas. For example: [S11,S24]

If the event takes place over multiple dates and causes you to add multiple events to your calendar, you should only add the course code to the first event.
